A quarter of my script done! And, warhol is good for everyone!

That was one good piece of cake!!  First to my writing!!  After some tough editing and decision-making, my new feature script is 20 pages in!  Not done, I repeat!  Not done!!  From 30 to 20 pages.. and that’s getting things done.. Basically the script is along theme of the film TOKYO… The story  all takes place in parts of Los Angeles; where a certain trend dominates the scene.  The sketch below is from a good friend  Yasmin Khudari..  And hopefully by the end of the year we’ll be working on something I been working on since the age of 17!!   Cant’ say enough about this sketch!!  But, the females in the film will most likely follow in this fashion..  some kind of preview of a work in progress. .

from nothing to something

The one thing that came to mind this weekend was this is going to be another weekend  of doing nothing.  But, with a phone call from a good friend and a birthday party to attend.   Things started to look up..  I got invited to a concert, where the music group Empire of the Sun performed.

new point in life….sorta.

The week of August starter sorta good. .  Finally making progress towards my feature film Betty I am. Decided on using the web program or something around those lines called Kickstarter.  It’s to raise up the money needed to finish my film.  Me and my associate are putting it together and will be out soon.  And, wait and see.  I had this idea in mind, but I didn’t really had any fate that it would work.  But, from some talk from a friend, if Kickstarter doesn’t work….well.. .I’ll be in the same place I am right now and that’s OK!

A little bit from the past.

August 02, 2009.

Last night was a little bit of time to reflect where it all started.  Nine years ago, (it’s been that long) I attended a community college where I took an interest in writing and directing.   The first class that I took was theatre appreciation.  From there on, I really appreciated the art of storytelling, the affect it had on audience.  The tone or powerful message a play or story would have on anyone that would enjoy  it.   Continue reading

Getting caught up..

Just getting by and getting ready to write some stuff tonight.. Had an interesting night last friday.. Attended the Crusaders & Haters party at Royal/T..  brought to you by Zippercut .  The party was pretty amazing.. The more I go to these events, the more i see it provides a playground for people to show their creative/crazy/inspiring  side, which also helps me write.. Writing is life..

Wishing in the future, I’ll be able to purchase some kind of video camera.  Unfortunately, for the way things look financially for me at this point of my life, It’ll be a while.   I would sure love to post videos or take awesome pictures of my daily life and provide a better idea of the things that inspire me to write.   But, the highlight for me this passed week was a screening of  The Warriors.. A cult classic.  Not only there was a screening,  but also a special guest appearance of Ajax (James Remar) Mercy (Deborah Van Valkenburgh)  Cochise (David Harris).  The interview of the three of them was very informative and so interesting for someone like me.  They basically talked about all of the side stories that went on during the making of the film.   Also, delighted to hear about how Walter Hill directed his actors which also I gain some knowledge.  No, I’m not going to mimic his style or come anything close to his style..  I direct my own way .. Hopefully in the future I’ll get into talking about directing films or actors.. Not being afraid to get your vision done.  Not getting too sidetrack from this topic… This was a great night..

Lately, I been taking a B & W Photography Class and I love it!  So, I’m always looking for opportunities to take pictures of the happenings of Los Angeles.  Tuesday, I was a victim of the Nike-Lebron-James picture taking P.R. move.  There was this small mini concert in culver city where a J-pop star (Kanon Wakeshima)  was going to make an appearance for an album release party type of fiasco.  Believing this was an awesome opportunity to take some photos and practice the art of photography. . After only taking one picture which you see below… A hand grabs the front of my camera, a female sony worker (yes, a sony product) tells me with authority that I was not allowed to take photos of Kanon.   To make things short, after three songs ..the concert was over.. .   The performance was very entertaining.. Another reason that I  wanted to attend, its not very often you see someone using a cello instrument in a rock/pop type of act… And, just one more reason to throw out there.. I have a script in the works where it involves a female singer.. And, just seeing how things are after the show.  It gave me a great perspective of the aftermath, clean up, crew working to strike down.  How Kanon  Wakeshima exits the building with her handlers.. It was quite helpful.

Unexpected Fun, kinda?

Friday Reflection

Well, we’re in the middle of the month and I’m at page 54 and a half of my latest script. Don’t know the title yet,  hopefully I’ll hear it in a conversation or something.  My deadline was suppose to be on friday.   And, Sunday was going to be a day to clean up the script, spelling errors, or just plain errors. .  But, the time and quality wasn’t there…So….The day before, decided to take the day off and knew that i was not going to make it…  I needed to enjoy at least one day out of the month.   If you call enjoyment of starting off with the breakfast special at 7/Eleven, it sounds correct.  Something about their coffee and food, it may resemble fast food rejects, but it seems okay in my book, because  I’m on the go in the morning drive of my job.  During my mini breaks of day dreaming at my job, I’d figured out how the climax of my script is going to occur.  I added a special hobby to one of the characters and it fits in perfectly for the make up of the final act.  Once off from work.  I headed home to dress up, and met up with a few friends for an art gallery opening at one of places where I usually do some of my writing and at times other viewing pleasures; Royal/T.

I was more than impressed with the whole layout of the function. With spending time getting my RSVP cleared away, just by entering the place, I knew it was going to be a good night.  French maids in the whole facility roaming around giving out free alcohol and small eating portions of many kinds .

I appreciated the art work, some of the conversation’s of the night.. I found myself talking to a film student from USC, her name doesn’t come to mind.  It would of have been more interesting if the conversation would have lasted a little longer,  for some reason, it didn’t…  Random dude, we started talking.. asking me some questions that I couldn’t answer, but tried my best.  Found out that you don’t need a liquor license at a public event if the booze is free.. good to know, never know… it sounds like that may come in handy soon.  As I double fist some alcohol and listen to the Dj playing apparently some underground hip hop. ..  I just kept on thinking about the many reasons that I couldn’t make the deadline…or i guess a way to feel better because I couldn’t make the deadline.

Guessing it was wishful thinking, having a full time job and writing a feature script in short period of time.  Around 9pm or so, the alcohol was sinking in, and my crazy self started to come out…I received a phone call/text from a friend that was waiting for me at the Nuart for a midnight movie.  Knowing that, started drinking two bottles of fiji water… Needed to get my act together to jump on the road soon… The water was okay, but the bottles were awesome.

Never was a really big fan of this beer until recently… The sad part I’m not really big on beer.. But, from talking or tasting…The beer world wouldn’t be a bad place to visit..

Don’t know what was the inspiration, but it worked.. . From what I got from the piece was that everyone has those mood swings ready to take over and cause some of kind of conversational topic for other people.
This was one activity that I did throughout the event.  Much fun. And very happy for the few moments that words we’re exchange, no meaning, but they were exchange.
Before the midnight flick..GHOSTBUSTERS!!  We hit Cafe 50’s for dinner, and trying to become alert and ready for a, have fun film time.  From the pictures from the wall, women and their bodies sure changed from what’s acceptable in the entertainment business..

The burger is always ordered medium well…
The wait was okay to get in the doors…During it, was still thinking ahead about the script..Even with a friend keeping me company..It sometimes dominated my mind.. I guess.. That’s how it works me for now or until something comes along with a way of finishing the script..
As for the movie itself ..  I haven’t seen it for ten years or so… It was well worth it…. There were so many jokes that I understood this time around… Got home.. I stared at the script for a little.. then to bed… I’m no poet or anything.. but this would be a good spot to end this with a poem.. wishful thinking.. ..
